The company began in 2018 with the purchase and repositioning of a hotel in St. John’s, Newfoundland which is now the embodiment of Opal Hospitality as a DoubleTree by Hilton. Meet the team

Perry Vashee
President
Perry founded Opal Hospitality in 2018 when presented with the opportunity to fully reimagine a Harbourview hotel in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and has since built a true lifestyle hospitality company. His diverse experience and successes provide the foundation on which the company operates.
Prior to founding Opal Hospitality, Perry provided consulting for his extensive network of hoteliers. Between 2013 and 2018, Perry also acted as the Director of Asset Management for The Silver Hotel Group where he helped top-tier brands including the award-winning Radisson Toronto to reposition their assets.
Perry was Director of Operations at Northampton Group for more than a decade where he supported the company to expand its hotel portfolio. During this time, he developed several award-winning hotels across Canada, including Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in Ottawa, and the first Aloft Hotel by Marriott in the world in Montreal. Perry also sat on owner’s boards for Holiday Inn and Sheraton hotels.
Perry’s passion for the hospitality industry was ignited when he worked in hotels while studying business management and accounting at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Always expanding his horizons, Perry enjoys travel and design. He can often be found out dining, golfing or spending quality time with family and friends.

Peggy Corbiell, CMP
Corporate Director of Sales & Marketing
Peggy joined the Opal Team as Corporate Director of Sales & Marketing in January 2023. She oversees the sales strategies of the hotels within our portfolio, working with a variety of brands including Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, IHG, Best Western and Choice.
Peggy is an accomplished, goal driven professional with 24 years of hotel sales experience including 19 years in leadership roles managing highly driven and successful teams. Peggy has over 10 years of experience in senior sales leadership roles, specifically with Hilton.
She has held Sales leadership roles in both franchised and managed hotels, from boutique style hotels to full-service properties. Prior to joining Opal, she was the Director of Sales & Marketing for Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre & Spa. With 500 rooms and 45,000 sq ft of meeting space, Peggy was responsible for implementing, directing, developing, and achieving business objectives. Prior to this role, Peggy supported the complex sales team at both Hilton Toronto and Hilton Mississauga, both large hotels with a combined total of almost 1000 rooms and 63,000 sq ft of meeting space.
With a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Peggy studied at both Brock University and Wilfrid Laurier University. She has a CMP Designation and is a member of MPI.
In her free time, Peggy enjoys going to concerts and theatre in the city, cheering on our Toronto sport teams and traveling. She also has a love of Art, Interior Design and enjoys cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

Nour Al-Dajani
Manager, Special Projects
Nour Al-Dajani joined Opal Hospitality in August 2023 as Office Manager and has since taken on a broad range of responsibilities that support both the corporate team and the hotels. She manages day-to-day operations at the office, ensuring administrative, financial, and legal processes are carried out efficiently. Nour works closely with hotel teams, owners, partners, and brands to support reporting, address operational issues, and maintain compliance across the portfolio.
She plays an active role in project management for new hotel openings and transitions—coordinating preopening timelines, working with brands to meet brand requirements, onboarding systems and vendors, and helping properties prepare for a successful launch. Nour also supports regulatory filings, legal documentation, and operational planning for developing hotels.
With a Bachelor of Business Administration and a background in accounting and administration, she brings a structured and detail-oriented approach to every project. Her exposure to various hotel brands—including Hilton and Marriott, has given her a well-rounded understanding of brand standards and operational priorities. She also brings a strong sense of marketing and guest experience, which contributes meaningfully to Opal’s efforts at both the corporate and property level.
Outside of work, Nour enjoys exploring new cuisines and cultures through cooking and traveling, which aligns with her professional interests and enriches her understanding of the food and beverage sector. Her passion for food and social media complements her role in enhancing Food & Beverage offerings and supporting marketing initiatives for Opal Hospitality.

Sabarina Bhinder
Operations Manager
Sabarina Bhinder is passionate about hospitality and has an educational background in Accounting. Her journey began at The Insignia Hotel, Sarnia, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, during the challenging times of 2020 when all managers had been laid off due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Sabarina was dedicated to creating procedures and building a strong team from the ground up. She effectively managed various hotel departments, including Housekeeping, Front Desk, Food and Beverage, Human Resources, and Accounting, showcasing her versatility in hotel operations.
Sabarina played a key role in the successful conversion of The Insignia Hotel to Marriott in March 2021 and subsequently to the Tribute Portfolio collection in 2022. She was instrumental in the full pre-opening process, successfully completing all conversion phases. Her commitment to excellence was reflected in the hotel’s consistent performance, never falling below benchmark in any review category and achieving a green zone in the Brand Standards Audit. Furthermore, Sabarina doubled the housekeeping productivity during her tenure at The Insignia Hotel.
In addition to her professional achievements, Sabarina enjoys engaging in outdoor activities, cooking, taking walks with her dogs, staying active through fitness, and travelling.
Sabarina’s understanding of Marriott’s Best Practices and Standards, combined with her practical experience in addressing daily operational hurdles, makes her a valuable addition to our team in the role of Operations Manager.
Krupa Desai
Operations & Strategy
Krupa Desai joined Opal in January 2025 in an Operations and Strategy role, focusing on boutique hotels and start-up project management. She also provides guidance and support on Human Resources matters across the portfolio, drawing on her extensive leadership experience. As part of the leadership team, Krupa plays an active role in helping define and build the company culture at Opal—one rooted in collaboration, creativity, and excellence.
With over 20 years of Human Resources leadership experience, a Human Resource Management degree, a HR designation, and a background in interior design , Krupa brings a rare combination of operational insight and creative vision to the hospitality industry. Her global travels and exposure to luxury boutique environments have shaped a deep appreciation for architecture, design, and the art of creating meaningful guest experiences.
Krupa is known for her keen eye—seamlessly blending elegance with functionality. Passionate about both people and place, she contributes to the Opal team’s mission of delivering thoughtful, elevated stays that leave a lasting impression. At Opal, she is proud to be part of the team curating exceptional guest journeys.
Beyond her professional life, Krupa enjoys an active and creative lifestyle. She takes part in dragon boat racing, enjoys walks by the lake, and loves discovering new travel experiences. She values quality time with her nieces, nephews, and extended family, and has a deep appreciation for art, wine, food, and meaningful moments shared with friends.
Chris Austin
Director of Operations
Chris Austin joined Opal Hospitality as Director of Operations in May 2025, bringing with him two decades of hands-on leadership experience in the hotel industry. Throughout his career, Chris has held General Manager and above-property leadership roles, working with Best Western, Wyndham, Marriott, Hyatt, and Hilton hotels. He has consistently led high-performing teams and delivered operational excellence across a range of property types.
Chris has also played a key role in numerous successful hotel openings across Canada, working with brands such as Marriott, Hyatt, and Hilton. His deep understanding of both branded and independent hotel operations makes him a valuable asset to Opal’s growing portfolio.
Known for his results-driven approach, Chris has a proven track record of optimizing operational performance, enhancing guest satisfaction, and building strong, service-focused cultures across his properties. He excels in aligning hotel operations with brand standards while fostering environments that promote team development and accountability.
Outside of his professional life, Chris enjoys exploring new culinary experiences, traveling, and spending time with his family. His passion for hospitality is matched only by his commitment to continuous improvement and creating memorable guest experiences.

Priya Khullar-Supaul
Commercial Services Manager
Priya Khullar-Supaul joined Opal Hospitality as Commercial Services Manager in July 2025, bringing over 15 years of proven sales leadership experience within the hospitality industry. Throughout her career, Priya has held key sales roles with globally recognized brands including Hilton, Marriott, and Woodbine Entertainment Group, specializing in both transient and group business across a wide range of market segments.
She has successfully driven revenue performance and established long-term partnerships through her work in the SMERF and Tour & Travel markets, securing multiyear agreements and consistently exceeding sales targets. Priya’s expertise spans business development, contract negotiation, strategic account management, and sales team mentorship, contributing to the success of multiple high-profile properties within the Greater Toronto Area.
Recognized for her achievements with Hilton’s Circle of Excellence and other performance accolades, Priya has also been actively involved in destination marketing partnerships and industry organizations, participating in key events such as Rendezvous Canada and the Sports Event Congress.
Her deep understanding of branded hotel sales and her results-oriented approach make her a valuable member of the Opal Hospitality team, contributing directly to the continued growth and success of the company’s Ontario portfolio.
Outside of work, Priya is a proud mom to spirited identical twin girls who keep her on her toes and fill her world with double the giggles and chaos. In quieter moments, you’ll find Priya lost in a world of LEGO bricks, building creations big and small with a sense of wonder and precision.
